It is the wine that marked my evolution from sommelier to producer. Dedicated to our daughter Chiara and her beautiful red hair, it embodies a deep connection between passion, family, and territory. It is born from Ticino Merlot, complemented by a small part of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc — varieties that today show great potential in our evolving climate. A wine symbolizing emotion and vision, capable of uniting roots and future in a single glass.
Designation
Rosso del Ticino, DOC
Grape varieties
80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc
Vineyards
Merlot: 40 years, Cabernet Sauvignon: 30 years, Cabernet Franc: 30 years. Vines cultivated in Mendrisiotto. The vineyards are located in a hilly area, where thanks to the exposure they can benefit from particular microclimates favorable to quality viticulture.
Soil
Calcareous and clayey
Aging
Merlot: 16 months / 100% new barriques: Sylvain, Taransaud, Radoux.
Cabernet Sauvignon: 13 months / 40% new barriques and 60% two-year-old: Sylvain.
Cabernet Franc: 13 months / 45% new barriques and 55% two-year-old: Sylvain.
Cellaring
It is a wine that can be appreciated young with generous aeration in a decanter or large glasses. However, thanks to its complexity and richness, it has great aging potential of 10/15 years.
Tasting notes
The aromas on the nose are intense and offer fruity scents of ripe cherry and blackberry. Aging in fine barrels brings notes of spices and toast that enrich its expressive capacity. On the palate, the solid structure blends harmoniously with refinement, showing a distinct and deep style that reveals itself with great persistence on the finish.
Food and wine pairing
It is an important, elegant red wine with great character, which accompanies dishes of flavorful and tasty cuisine such as pasta with meat sauces, risottos, red meats and game cooked rare, aged cow cheeses. Exceptional with lamb meat.
