Paolo Basso

It all began unknowingly with grandfather's cellar, referred to during childhood as "the forbidden place." A place that in my childhood imagination concealed who knows what mystery.

A few years later, during a language study stay in Valais, the largest wine-growing region in Switzerland, that passion was born in me that enticed and pushed me to learn more about wine.

Today, after much study, work and competition, I am part of the small group of seven sommeliers in the world to have won both the title of Best Sommelier of Europe (in 2010) and Best Sommelier of the World (in 2013). After this last competition, my career took a major turn, becoming even more intense, full of commitments and opportunities.

I was thus allowed to diversify my activities and become a consultant, teacher, trader, and most importantly, to have my own wines today.

In Ticino I found the ideal conditions to follow up on my passion and get closer to production. I thus have the opportunity to experience wine in all its facets, accentuated by the fact that I live in Ligornetto, one of the best-known wine villages in Ticino.

Thanks to the valuable experience gained in different fields, my wines are oriented to a balanced and harmonious style to best accompany the cuisine.
