Name
Riserva Ticino DOC
Grape varieties
100% Merlot
Vinification and aging
Vinification is Bordeaux-style with maceration for about 20 days in steel vats at a controlled temperature of 27-30 degrees. After malo-lactic fermentation the wine is put into new 225-liter French oak barrels. Aging depending on the vintage varies from 15 to 18 months.
Land
This aging wine is made with grapes from two hillside plots located in Gudo, a district of Bellinzona, on the right bank of the Ticino River. These, oriented perfectly to the south have a very specific exposure and microclimates that are optimal for producing great wines. In addition, the vineyard located at Costa Piatta takes advantage of slight breezes from the valleys of Gudo that allow the vineyard to hold up well to various annual climatic situations.
